February 15 is the day where Singapore celebrates Total Defence Day. On 15th February 1942, Singapore fell onto the hands of the Japanese for 3 years until their surrender in 12th September 1945. So, my school had a lot of talks and skits about Total Defence. The talk was kinda boring and I almost fell asleep even though I was trying to peel my eyes open. =P
During recess, the whole canteen sold nothing but plain porridge, which costs 30cents for a small bowl and sweet tapioca. This was to make the students have a feel what was like during the World War II when people only had porridge and home-grown sweet tapioca. However, there was this black market to allow students to buy sandwiches, which normally cost 80cents but today at $4 and packet drinks, which normally costs 50cents but today at $2. Since it was named black market, the stuff sold would be damn expensive.
I had no choice but to save the money and bought the plain porridge and forced myself to gulp it down so that I wouldnt be hungry during lessons later on. I learnt something today: To remember to bring own food during every Total Defence Day for recess to save myself from eating the plain porridge. XD
I've gotta go now since theres English and Science Common Test tomorrow and it affects 15% of my overall results in the end of year examinations so gotta study for them. Byez~
